Program Details - The Sound Segment

In this segment of the program, we explore the world of sound with more than a dozen musical instruments from six different continents.  Feel the vibrations, and learn about the sound waves of high and low pitches with a 30 foot spring.  This segment has the greatest number of volunteer opportunities since the children are the ones demonstrating most of the instruments.  They have the chance to play instruments such as a gong from Indonesia, a Native American bone whistle, and a marimba from Zimbabwe.   When time allows, this part of the program also touches on cultural diversity as we talk about the uses and histories of the instruments as well.
